A number of small updates were made to the website and how it looks, especially when using smartphones and tablets. These updates included changing the way that blog posts were displayed, showing an excerpt to give the user more of an idea of the content they were going to read.

We also removed the job posting feature for the time being as we're looking at a more automated option. This will require extra security to be added to protect the website from people trying to add things that shouldn't be on the website. In its place, we have added links to Indeed, Reed.co.uk and Bluebird Care where the people of Oswestry and surrounding can search for vacancies.

We added new articles as well as introduced our new editor "Alice Scott" who will be writing a number of articles for us going forward.

A new category was added to the website in the form of 'Workplace Wellbeing' which will contain a number of articles that deal with mental health related issues in the workplace.

We put out a poll on our social media group asking whether users would like a shorter form for the smaller businesses that have less information to add. This poll ended 75% saying they wanted a shorter form and 25% saying they were happy with the longer form. Following the poll result we added a shorter form, whilst keeping the longer form for those that needed it.

To make it easier for people to share jobs they’d seen on our website, we added new social media sharing buttons. When shared to the likes of Facebook, the preview shows the job title, employer and brief description of the role.

We also added a new set of links to the menu. These are 'News' and 'Useful Links' to websites that offer information such as local food banks, benefit calculators and Citizens Advice to name just a few.

We also added more vacancies which were supplied by local companies.

Since its "official" launch on the 25th of February 2024, the website has had 1,719 hits.

Courses was added to the list of regular updates. This initially included 3 articles of free courses offered by Google, Open University and Barclays, taking the total number of free courses to 12.

The basics of the website were built over a weekend with 9 articles being written and a number of “filler” jobs being added. Also updated was the responsive (mobile/smartphone view) look and feel to the website.

The website was officially launched, but via a "soft launch" so as not to overwhelm the servers as there are over 20,000 members in the Facebook group.

The Oswestry Job Vacancies domain (oswestryjobvacancies.co.uk) was purchased and the foundations for the website were created.
